AHAR
ASICS High Abrasion Resistance Rubber (AHAR) is a tough compound used at the heavy contact area of the outsole, for example the heel. It helps to reduce excessive wear.
The all-new design of the GEL-Cumulus 13 gives this lightweight cushioned trainer a super plush platform feel. This edition includes a Guidance Line along the outsole, helping the foot to maintain a smooth transition from heel to toe-off. Also new is the Discrete Eye-stay Construction, which improves the overall fit. The women's model reprises the Gender Specific Forefoot Cushioning, which employs a lower density midsole for improved cushioning and forefoot comfort.

GEL-CUMULUS 13
Following the main principles of the GEL-NIMBUS, the GEL-CUMULUS 13 is lighter, but maintains a high level of cushioning and comfort. Improved shock absorption comes from the GEL Cushioning System in both the rearfoot and forefoot areas, and from the gender specific forefoot cushioning – a top layer of lower density injected Solyte, while the gender-specific Space Trusstic System recognises the normal periodic changes in the shape of the woman’s arch and provides for the controlled deformation of the arch into the space within the system, which also gives the GEL-CUMULUS 13 structural integrity and support.
GEL-CUMULUS 13
DuraSponge is a blown AHAR compound for enhanced cushioning and durability in the forefoot. ASICS High Abrasion Resistance Rubber (AHAR) is a tough compound used at the heavy contact area of the outsole.
The ComforDry Sockliner provides the optimum cushioning performance that creates a cooler, drier and healthier shoe environment.
Gender Specific Forefoot Cushioning refers to the inclusion of specially formulated Solyte material in the forefoot. The material's density is reduced, allowing the female foot to compress it sufficiently and benefit fully from the bounce-back qualities of Solyte. Traditionally, women's running shoes contained cushioning material of the same density as men's. However, as women are usually lighter than men, the female foot would not fully compress the material, resulting in a less than optimal ride. Gender Specific Forefoot Cushioning addresses this issue and provides women with a more comfortable and responsive ride. The cushioning material, located under the ball of the foot and extending across the width of the shoe, also acts as an efficient shock absorber.
Guidance Line places a visible groove in the mid and outsole that follows the foot's center of pressure from heel to toe. The result is a more adaptive running platform, creating a smoother transition from heel strike to toe-off with each stride. Automatic Guidance Line thus helps runners to maintain a natural, efficient gait, especially over long distances.
ASICS comes from the Latin phrase “Anima Sana In Corpore Sano”, meaning a “sound mind in a sound body”.
